What was with the implied incest between little kids?

I mean WTF? I know it's a foreign movie and their's are different and everything but seriously there's a reason we don't see that in a lot of movies and it's because it's *beep* up. I watched this in film club last week,I've seen lots of movies and TV and enough things enough times that nothing really makes me go WTF or something like that, but that did. Why the hell was that approved? or kept the same and not edited before shoooting?

Seriously, WTF are you ranting about?

Who's driving this plane? Stan Butler?

reply

It wasn't incest, they were just very close. I thought it was sweet. The only WTF in this film was the graphic dead cat at the beginning.

Passion is just insanity in a cashmere sweater!

Um, in case you hadn't noticed: he was switched as a baby (whole theme of the movie) and therefore it was not incest.

I'm guessing you were to pissed to notice an important detail that flew over your head while you were watching it.

And it's not just a foreign movie, but a French film.

reply

The entire movie revolves around his thinking he was switched at birth.
There's no proof they were or not, but in his mind, she's not his sister because he should be living his life from Alfred's viewing point.

Thomas talked about brother-sister marriage being allowed in ancient Egypt, so he clearly regarded Alice as his sister really. The switched-at-birth bit was his fantasy.
