I remembered the teaser to it on the Total Recall VHS and being very excited to see the movie and been a fan of the original since HBO viewing in 1984 and i was 10 when this came out in theaters and saw it 4 times and dug it.
I even had some of the merchandise like toys, t-shirt, cards, comic adaptation, lunchbox and more as i was obsessed with it and even got the movie for Christmas on video.
"Unicorn, mermaid, vampire, sorceress! No name you'd give her would surprise me i love whom i love"
I did. I loved it.
There was no twist at the time. All the media and press had already clearly laid out that Arnold was a protecting Terminator. That would have been wild if it had been a surprise that he was a good Terminator.
Sorry mark(1044) but it was common knowledge that Arnie was the good guy in this movie. The trailer was shown at least a month before the movie came out .
This is the trailer I saw at the local ABC cinema back in the day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZlOy3-Cqt4
.
Thats weird i'm certain i didnt see that, must've been lucky i guess, i used to go cinema regularly back then too!
The only clues i saw were in that Guns N Roses video .
Watched it at the Odeon cinema in Coventry, England.
Remember it well, there was a charity drive going on and the theatre played a 5 minute appeal video on the big screen before the movie. The ushers hand out a load of charity tins for donations, gave it ten minutes for them to be passed around then came back in to collect them. They found they were 2 tins short - some lowlife was trying to steal them! The management refused to show the main attraction till the tins were returned and threatened to call the police. About an hour later, still no T2 everyone was getting seriously angry, people were shouting and threatening the staff. Eventually they were found, 2 young lads were escorted out of the cinema for their own protection and the movie was shown, albeit an hour or more later.
Its a damn good job that the movie was so well received, so good that it pacified an atmosphere that had become very toxic and hostile. Lord knows what kind of riot would have occurred if the movie was crap. The second most memorable cinema visit I ever went to.......
Wow that whole thing is kind of bizarre.. I mean using T2 to collect charity money and even showing a 5 minute video for it before (in place of trailers?) then the haphazard way of collecting money and of course the 2 missing tins and the ensuing delay..wow
I think I was 7 and mom was taking my sister and her friend to see T2 and we were going to see Problem Child 2. I remember asking her if we could see Terminator instead and the rest is history.
