Such a disappointment after the first film.
I was a massive fan of the original film when it came out (and I still am). It was so dark and emotional that it really clicked with something inside me and I was over the moon when sequel was announced.
I was so disappointed that it had been dumbed down almost to the point of being insulting and I just didn't get why my friends couldn't see the goofy TV quality feel to the whole thing.
It's not like the plot on paper is bad, it's just really poorly executed.
I think folk forget that the first film was actually a very small indy film that had been based on the comics from the outset and was actually planned just a bit before the cartoon got popular.
I think by the end of 1990 the cartoon had really taken off and so they used the sequel as a vehicle to capitalise on it.
To be fair in 1991 I was 13 going on 14 so The Secret of The Ooze was maybe outside my age range but they must have realised surely that the audience that made the first film such a hit would be older by now so it seemed like a very backward decision.
I do get some nostalgia out of it simply becasue I saw it at the time and it's not terrible but it's right up there with Batman Forever in terms of cinema disappointments.
