Arlena Twigg's knowledge of her situation

Did Arlena Twigg ever know or find out that the Twiggs were NOT her biological parents? I don't think she did. If not, why didn't the Twiggs ever tell her?

reply

If she never did find out, I would imagine it would be because she was going through so much already that the Twiggs probably thought it would be best not to tell her. I mean, why give her one more thing to worry about at the point in time?

You smell like old people and soap. I like it.

In the movie version, the Twiggs never told her, and I hope that was the case in real life, too. How cruel would it be to tell a child already dying of a heart condition that you aren't her real parents?
The Twiggs were so caught up with Arlena's surgeries and illness that they really didn't have time to deal with the fact that their birth child had been switched...until after she died, I guess.

They were told that the blood test that said she had B+ were most likely wrong because of all the medication she was on. This was the doctors office where the doctor wanted her to have a complete heart/lung transplant.

According to the book by Noble-Shwartz, Regina was very upset that night she learned that Arlena was not her biological child. However, because Arlena was to have surgery, Regina and Earnest were not going to tell her. Regina even blurted out in the doctors office that maybe if she found her real daughter, (Kimberly)she and Arlena could be raised as sisters. Anyway, that night when Regina returned home she was giving Arlena a bath and since Arleana had known that there was some confusion about the blood tests, she told her mother, she didn't care if she was adopted because she knew her mommy loved her. Regina and Earnest never did tell her the truth.

It does seem right that they didn't tell her, but then again, that didn't give her the chance to know that she had another family out there that loved her. And the other family did not have a chance to even know her.
