I didn't like how the movie showed only the black nurse handling the two babies as if the mixup lay in her hands solely.

Also kimberly mays was a whiny ass toddler. I wished she'd stop all that damn crying.

I couldn't believe the Twiggs kept having all those children and then had the nerve to try and get custody of Kimberly. Don't you have enough children! Then the husband was always complaining about not having the money for Arlena's surgery. Because he had all those other damn mouths to feed.

Did it not ever dawn on these dumb asses that the girls didn't share any resemblance with them? But perhaps the Twiggs didn't because they have so many other children their faces just run together.

In this case I feel that blood is not thicker than water. If I were in their shoes I wouldn't want to meet my biological child, whether it had lived. I've spent ten years of my life with this child and a bond has taken place therefore in my heart this child is mine. And then I be damned if they tried to take their child away and leave a dead one on my hands. No way. Your child has died now leave me and mines alone!

It was a simple mistake that had tragic consequences. This wasn't a case of racism. It was one person who caused the mix-up (based on the movie, I haven't read the book). If it were a white nurse, would it be racism?

There seems to have been an ensuing curse in that one nurse who worked that maternity ward eventually confessed, as she lay dying, that it was a conspiracy by a couple of doctors in that hospital to switch the babies to the different mothers. The doctors knew that the one mother was sick and had tried unsuccessfully for so long to have any children. They also knew that she was likely to end up dying anyway. They figured that the switch was something that nobody would ever discover and that Bob Mays at least would end up with a child in his life. When confronted about all of this the doctors and hospital ran for cover, not commenting. I'm not sure what the eventual outcome was. It's all searchable.

If I was the twiggs, I probably wouldn't have wanted custody either if the child was in a happy healthy home. However, you can't fault them for wanting to know what happened to their child. For example, what if they had found out their child had been in foster care for several years. I would want to know to ensure that my child had a good life.

If I were you then I'd learn the subjunctive case. "If" is a subjunctive preposition, requiring the use of a subjunctive verb to follow, thus "were" is the correct choice here, if I "were." Nobody says "If I was" unless that person's promotion to the next grade in school was an oversight on the school's part.

WOW you must be lacking any self esteem to feel you have to pick on and correct silly little typos in a movie message board. People come here to talk casually about their opinions on the movie and issues not to get a grammar lesson.

We're not talking about a mere typo. The person shows a basic lack of grammatical structure and doesn't know that there's no such thing as "if I was." The internet isn't a free for all where rules just plain don't count and illiteracy is free to rule the day. Learn the subjunctive case.
