http://www.charlesband.com/blog/

Wow! Christmas is here and in more ways than one!: We have confirmation that our order of the SUBSPECIES BOX SET from Australia will be here right after the first of the year and we’re all EXTREMELY EXCITED! And FYI the DVDs will be “all regions” so they can play wherever you are! We’re setting the date of January 6th at high noon for when the box sets will go up on www.FullMoonDirect.com. And we’ll have a “count-down” counter up soon to build up the madness until that moment! This is a very limited run and we’re only getting x500 units – apparently when we sell out we can re-order but their next run will not be until June. The price will be $59.95.

Hmmmm, just wondering about this whole "Australian Import" thing...

I just scanned a number of DVD websites to see if the set was availble here in Australia and got nothing except one that offered a US import of Subspecies 4. If these really were an "Australian Import" surely they would be available here! Additonally, they're mastered in NTSC, which isn't the Australian DVD picture standard. Futhermore (and as an Aussie, I find this hilarious) the company that has produced them is called, "Kangaroo Video"! Why not "Boomerang Video"? "Wallaby Video"? "Crocodile Dundee Video"? "G'day Cobber Bonza Mate She'll-be-right Strewth Video"?!?!?!

LOL!!!

If Full Moon is going to produce DVDs and claim they are from a foreign country, couldn't they be just a little more subtle?

It's clear the whole "import" thing is to get around Paramount's ownership of the films, but this is truly stretching credibility don't you think?

It's a way of making money. Paramount seems to hold a mysterious grudge against Full Moon, and Paramount isn't releasing the films on DVD, and won't allow Full Moon to do so. Legally, they're selling out imports and there's not a thing Paramount can do to stop it.
