Plain wedding bands aren't uncommon for the genuinely wealthy, especially old money. The really big, flashy engagement rings are generally worn by celebrities, posers, and new money. Martin struck me as big, old money. They generally don't flaunt it in gauche fashion.

If you watch the film on HD, her ring shows a top half of mini- inlaid diamonds and, though simple, is rather pretty. You notice it more when he puts her ring on his finger upon finding it in the toilet. What a stupid plot device I might add. Imagine going through all that careful planning and cleaning and secrecy for the perfect escape and you toss the ring in the toilet. Because you must rid yourself of it NOW! Instead of tossing it in the sea or dropping it down the sewer. Or as a previous poster mentioned, selling it.
shareI noticed those details too and thought it was a very pretty ring, also very well made, a ring like that would never warp or bend, I would love one like it. It got lots of air time and close ups so I noticed, plus I'm kind of into jewelry. I think she planned everything except what to do with the ring and just couldn't bear having it on one more second. She just wanted to get rid of it fast so she flushed it, an impulsive act done in distress. But yes, she planned everything else, why not just throw it in her bag with the rest of her stuff...
