Cousin could have been more understanding

Newly-orphaned 10-year-old upset by the slaughter of lambs? How about a little conversation and comfort? Seems ludicrous to send her to an orphanage for the running away incident.

I don’t recall her saying she got moved to an orphanage after the lamb incident. I always assumed she continued living with the “decent” farmer family.

"The rancher was so angry he sent me to live at the Lutheran orphanage in Bozeman. I never saw the ranch again."

Thanks. Missed that the first 6 times I’ve watched this. Yeah, that is cold but lambing was the family’s livelihood so it was either keep the traumatized kid and be destitute or orphanage.

You'll probably be surprised to know that back in the day, children weren't coddled & treated as sensitive as kids nowadays. Life is tough.......

Life is tough. That's why kids are screeching in the streets over an orange man today.

Cheetos.
