Huge Problem for a very underrated movie (SPOLIERS)

After all the arrests were made for all the dealers, who in the world would reveal the identity of the undercover officers? They busted countless dealers who would be going away for 25+ years for major narcotics trafficking, and you are telling me that the police and the press opening posted the identity of the officer's involved? Also the two undercover officers would never rent an RV and hope no one retaliated against them. They would be in protective custody until the trial is over and then be given a new location and identity. I know it was 1975, but they still did that back then. Otherwise a very engaging film with great performances. It's a shame that this title is synonymous with a crappy Ron Howard film.

better yet have them both walk inbetween the cellblocks full of all those they put in there. gaines was the only true immediate threat & he already knew they were pigs. I think the RV was an attempt at seclusion but gaines had eyes everywhere & a shotgun was all jim thought he needed, hell they didn't even have a phone in there. really liked the handgesture of the double barrel in the courtroom.
