My favorite moments

Loved the whole movie, but two moments really stick in my memory after all these years...

• When the Mobster and the G-man are side-by-side, blasting away at the Nazi commandos, and they pause for a second, look at each other, and smile at the irony.

• When Cliff and Jenny are on top of the dirigible, with no apparent means of escape, Cliff gently tries to explain that they're about to die: "Jenny... When the fire hits the gas envelope..."
Without even blinking, Jenny just calmly says, "I love you, Cliff."
Without a doubt, that is the most romantic moment I've ever seen in a film.

Those are great, memorable scenes! I love the film from start to finish as well. It is beautifully staged, with wonderful cinematography and great looking effects for it's day. I always liked how the scene of cliff flying away from the South Seas Club transitioned so beautifully into the folds on Jenny's Dress as she lies unconscious in Neville Sinclair's bed. I definitely can feel the love when watching this film, as they went all out to depict Los Angeles in 1938 as close to Dave Steven's vision as they could, a vision that is quite accurate.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

Those are great moments. I especially love the transition shot from the Hollywood Hills to Jenny's dress. Little moments like that add up, and they're usually the difference between a film merely being good and it being a classic.

My personal favorite moment is when Cliff ascends the steps of the observatory and one of the G-men spots him and says "Look, up on the dome. It's the Rocketeer!" as Cliff blasts off with the American flag waving in the background, topped off by Eddie saying "Go get 'em, kid.". Gets me every time.

I love the opening scene. It's a great beginning that establishes everything it needs to and is accompanied by a great score to boot.

"I loved you in Wall Street!"
