R.I.P. Ed Lauter (Agent Fitch)

I was really sad to come home from work this morning and read that veteran actor Ed Lauter, who played FBI Agent Fitch in The Rocketeer (The first film I remember seeing him in, and my favorite role of his to this day) died yesterday after being diagnosed in May with a terminal case of Mesothelioma. Lauter was one of those actors who when he showed up in something it instantly got better.

Yeah, I was actually a bit surprised that there wasn't a post here already. I know Mr. Lauter was really prolific, but I think he holds a special place in the hearts of fans of The Rocketeer.

I met Ed one time several years ago at a film festival and he seemed like a pretty nice guy, and he was telling funny stories about other actors that he worked with. At the festival they were honoring director Stanley Kramer before he died. Ed seemed genuinely happy to be there and in awe of him.
Later on I happened to meet his teenage daughter(who was nice too)...

RIP Ed
