The Book of the Dun Cow
I'm sure that many people are going to have no idea what I'm talking about but I'm going out on a limb anyway.
In AP Lit we had to read a book entitled "The Book of the Dun Cow" (which is excellent, everyone should read it, if you haven't all ready), which featured the story of a rooster ruling over his Coop and the surrounding land and being forced to fight a terrible evil in order to keep his kingdom safe.
Now, the book and the movie are not entirely the same, but there are some parrells, including the name of the roosters being Chauntcler (I know that's a very famous name for roosters, dating back to Chaucer) and one of the main points in the book is a rain that covers the earth, flooding rivers and lands, in order to keep all the animals inside. I remember a flood in "Rock a Doodle". Another thing about "Rock a Doodle" I don't entirely remember is the end, in which the Grand Duke transforms into some sort of creature; I don't know if that's entirely correct but if it is that's another comparion to the "Book of the Dun Cow."
So, I was just curious if anyone knows where "Rock a Doodle" is based of "The Book of the Dun Cow" or if they just have a little similarties.
Thanks!
I've longed to discover something as true as this is.
