i remember this movie being released with other movies, i wonder if this was part of a set of films , along with.As they all had the similar kind of story, and i think all released by the same film company
I don't remember if it was part of a series that was released at the same time. But there were very similar films with essentially the same premise in the late 80s or early 90s IIRC.
This film is not part of any series as far as I know. There have been similar films, some often called unofficial sequels like executive producer Charles Band's later films ROBOT WARS and CRASH AND BURN. Think Charles once said ROBOT WARS was his sequel, but most likely there were rights issues involved. Those two films have been retitled as "Robot Jox 2" in certain foreign markets, but no they are not true sequels.
I've never seen ROBO WARRIORS, so I can't exactly comment on that one.
ARENA is also not related to this film, though both were made by the same film company. And I've never even heard of MOON 44.
I am surprised people are still responding to this topic, almost 5 years AFTER it was posted.
Moon 44, quite a good little movie in it's own right.
Malcolm McDowell goes into his usual OTT bad guy mode, and hams it up, but the movie is well worth a viewing.
"The year 2038: The mineral resources of the earth are drained, in space there are fights for the last mineral deposits on other planets and satellites. This is the situation when one of the bigger mining corporations has lost all but one mineral moons and many of their fully automatic mining cargo ships are disappearing on their flight home.
Since nobody else wants the job, the company send prisoners to defend the mining station. Among them undercover agent Stone."
I think it would have been interesting, if he had made sequils to, Moon44, Robot Jox, Crash and Burn and Arena or maybe, spin off tv series from them. But i guess it's not going to happen after all this time.
