Robojox or Robot Jox?

I always knew it as Robojox.

reply

You're mad. It was always Robot Jox. At least in this country onyways.

Dick, this is nuts.

reply

No way. I rented it on video back in the day and it was Robojox.

Well it says on the front page also known as Robojox, but i think they omitted the "but only by grrav" bit.

Dick, this is nuts.

reply

grrav, You are not alone! I, too, remember this playing in Theaters as RoboJox and might even still have the ads I had clipped from the newspaper. Maybe it was only a Los Angeles thing?

reply

Apparently it's been released under both names.

Alexander clearly states in the film, "We are already dead. We are ROBOT JOX." Don't be such a silly-goose.

Yeah, see, when this movie was being made I saw it listed as RoboJox, which sounded even cooler to me than RoboCop.

Then, when it came out with the title Robot Jox, I knew it was a legal thing with the RoboCop people, but I thought "Okay, why even keep the 'Jox'? Because 'Robot Jocks' sounds crappy! They should've come up with a completely different title if they couldn't use RoboJox."

reply

It was originally ROBOJOX, but the people behind Robocop got all pissy and forced them to change the title, since it was "too close" to "Robocop".

And so, the title became "Robot Jox".

Stuart Gordon apparently says the "t" is silent.

Right you are.

Maybe it's just Alexander's accent...

In Seattle at the time, the TV ads had it as "RoboJox". I don't recall it being in any theaters, though it might have made it there. Anyway, the video release was "Robot Jox" when i saw it later that year.
