Robot Jox + Godzilla = Pacific Rim?
Anyone seen the new Pacific Rim trailer? As soon as I saw it I had to load up the Robot Jox IMDB page, looks amazeballs.

shareWhen I saw the PR trailer, Robot Jox immediately came to mind. I went over to the PR boards, and surprisingly nobody has made the Robo_Jox connection.
Yes! I've been saying Pacific Rim is Robot Jox, Independence Day, and Godzilla mixed together. The PR fans are going on and on about how original it is. It was good, but not original.
So long and thanks for all the fish!
That's because 95% of the movie going public has never heard of Robot Jox. Hell, I never would have if it wasn't for the fact it was directed by Stuart Gordon and I'm a HUGE Reanimator fan.
shareSome people is missing the point of Pacific Rim, go and read the article of wikipedia called "Super Robot" and the article called "Kaiju".
Pacific Rim was not inspired by Robot Jox or Independence Day. It was inspired by the Kaiju and Super Robot genre that started in Japan in the 50's.
There is plenty of animation and manga about the genre and of course all the old giant monster films.
Pacific Rim is the first modern film of this genre (kaiju-robot) with high budget and very nice execution. And probably it's going to be the first one of many....
Robot Jox was inspired by the same genre.
