I really liked this movie, except..

I didn't like the part near the end when Denzel and Lithgow were on that tower doing another arm wrestle and Lithgow forces Denzel's arm through a sharp wire on the tower--EWWWW... Denzel screams and looks faint as he pulls his arm off the wire, but then a few seconds later is cheerily taunting LIthgow again, as if he'd never been injured.. very unrealistic. I would think he'd be in way too much pain to continue taunting him like he was. I know some tough guys (like STallone) can be really tough, but i thought that was carrying things a bit too far.

Other than that, i really liked this movie. And LIthgow is TERRIFIC as a bad guy.

Trust me...when you're fighting for your life and to restore your good name, you can overcome something like that almost immediately for a little while. You'll feel it later but at the time, you do what you have to do. I know cuz this happens to me like every other day, well, maybe not every other day but at least twice a week :)

Anyway, you're right...Lithgow absolutely rocked as the bad guy.

I'm your huckleberry...

They're fighting from a tower and he's hanging by a cable cord. But THAT's realistic?

I thought Lithgow's acting was awful. How come no one agrees with me?

You should be a lawyer. Or atleast something where you have to think. Because you're brilliant.

reply

It doesnt take a lawyer to realise John Lithgow is a great character actor son. He quite clearly is the only reason this film is worth watching as he plays a great villain. I'm afraid the winner of the bad acting award in Richochet goes to the embarrasement that is......Ice-T.

reply

Only reason this film is worth watching? Think you have been watching too many whiteboy movies. Denzel is definitely the best and John Lithgow was also terrific as the bad guy. Simple as that.

reply

Whiteboy movies? Soz....'homie'.

reply

That whole tower scene made no sense. Why didn't Denzel just shoot Lithgow when he arrived and then show the media, Lithgow's body, confirming he was alive.

reply

Wow you are a idiot. So if that were to happen than would you consider it a good ending to a ACTION MOVIE?

And Denzel got to kill him while defending himself which would help greatly considering he was being look for allegedly murdering another cop (his partner).

reply

To answer Rynoll, I guess he could have done that, but remember he was already (falsely) wanted for murder, as he was accused of murdering a cop, Kevin Pollack's character, who was really killed by Lithgow. So doing that probably wouldn't have helped his case. Sure, it would show Lithgow had been alive all along, but he wanted people to see him kill Lithgow in self defense, instead of in revenge; that he was better than Lithgow. Just like Lithgow wanted to see Denzel's face on the cameras, when he was arrested for the cop's murder. He wanted to see Lithgow's face as he realized he was defeated...on camera, no less, along with him justifiably killing Lithgow after everyone sees and recognizes Lithgow being alive, and thus realizes he had set Denzel up. Hence, why he waited for the media to show up with the cameras. Not to mention it wouldn't have been anywhere nearly as dramatic.

i agree with the 2nd poster ur instincts kick in but id have to say the adrenaline kicked in a took over compensating for the pain

reply

Talking about unrealistic aspects in an action film...WTF? Ever see Total Recall where Arnold gets kicked right square in the nuts anhow he just kind of recovers really quickly from that?

reply

You all see things waaaay too realistic. This is NOT a realistic movie. It's NOT a movie where plot credibility matters. Once you understand this, you'll be able to appreciate this film a lot more! :)

The whole movie is unrealistic, but if it entertains as it goes along, it doesn't matter so much.

I guess none of you have ever been in a fight before. And I'm not talking schoolyard bully fight, I'm talking a fight for survival. A fight that your very life depends on. The reason Denzel was unfazed by having a spire go right through his arm is because of the adrenaline of the fight. When you're in a kill or be killed situation, you have an extreme rush of adrenaline that makes you seem superhuman, you can get shot or stabbed and not feel anything until later (that is, if you win). They call it "going into shock". Your body hasn't responded to the pain because your attention and focus is solely on trying to stay alive. So in this case, it was totally realistic.
