Wouldnt it be really funny if Emmeline and Richard were still alive and When Richards father found them Richard would be like. "Oh Hi Dad! You remember Emmeline right? well she is my wife now! And guess what? your a grandpa!!!!!!

That would be hilarious!

That techinically what happend in the first movie, they were just asleep. When Richards father saw them, it was clear they had become lovers from the child in there arms. So when Richard and Emmeline woke up they would have told them there story.

But the second movie killed it all so it doesn't matter.
