5 years later makes no sense.....

So let's say that Sharon and David's character got married right after they reconciled, or she at least got pregnant at that time. There's no way her daughter was 4 years old or younger. They really dropped the ball with this one. Would it have been so bad to fast forward 8-10 years?

I believe it was six years later. I don't imagine it would be impossible to conceive a child right away. We didn't really see Randy's evolution from skeptic to faithful, which is why I hate it when movies pull that kind of move just to conveniently move narratives along faster. I get the lack of time and all, but as a means of telling a story it's rather weak.
