At the start of the movie, when the young girl arrives at the motel (set in 30's or 40's), she seduces him and then when Norman leaves her for a minute, she goes into his mothers room and what we can see is Mother is nothing but a rotting corpse. Yet in the scene before, we see her mouth moving as she whispers to Norman. Anyone know the logic of what happened here? It keeps confusing me :~)

You can look at it two ways, either it's simply a bad directorial decision which has led to the confusing image, or it's deliberate and we're supposed to think perhaps Norman is imagining Mother being alive, given that we are also hearing her speak, and we know that's only Norman, too.
