I haven't seen this movie in many years. Was he one of the people who worked at the radio station?

Yes, he worked at the radio station. He was called Mike in the movie.

I loved John Landis' role as the producer of the show – some great black humor there. I wish Landis had more acting credits.

I just saw this film. Well, his presence is no coincidence, given the prominent theme of the latter. It might as well could have been produced by Amblin.
