If you liked this movie
Do yourself a favor and read the book. There is so much more to the story that just couldn't fit in the movie without making it 6 hours long. I could hardly put it down.
shareI absolutely agree with you. I read the book some years ago and I loved it. I couldn't put it down. It's so richer than the film, thought this is understandable, for the film would have had to last hours in order to reflect the whole contents of the book. I'm reading the book again now, and I'm loving it like the very first time. It's simply wonderful.
sharePat Conroy is one of the all-time best writers living today. One of his other books that has translated well to the movie version is "The Great Santini" with Robert Duvall (one of my favourite writers)--although again the book is superior to the movie. If you haven't read that book or seen that movie, I would recommend both to anyone who loved Prince of Tides.
sharei agree. the book was amazing and the film is good too but if you want the complete story then you deff. have to read the book. theres no way that streisand could have fit more into the movie. its already long and i think she did a beautiful job at adapting it. theres deff. a reason as to why it was nominated for Best Pic at the Academy Awards.
sharePat Conroy was one of the screenwriters for The Prince of Tides so obviously all of the important parts of the book were included. In regards to the movie, I can truly say that this movie did the book justice(which I have never said before). Barbra Streisand did an amazing job adapting this book into a movie and created a truly rich and wonderful film.
