Can't believe Channel 4 cut it out!

I was watching ‘Prince of Tides yesterday on Channel 4’ (yeah! I’m one of those!), when I realized one of the most important scenes had been totally cut!! The one where Tom’s being raped by one of the cons. I couldn’t believe my eyes!

I do realize that this is not scene to show on national tv at 4 pm, but please, show it at another time, this is just the MOST crucial scene in the whole movie, and I find it really incredible to just delete it!! Sometimes you wonder what else do tv channels cut to fit their interests …

i was just watching this movie on hbo and it just looks like she doesnt curse when she says it. it doesnt look beeped out

only when she says it the f word is bleeped out.

I KNOW!!!!!

I am watching it right now On Demand...
and i said the EXACT same thing when I saw the scene.
He says "Herbert *beep* Woodruff is your husband?"
and she definately initially said the same, only when she says it, her mouth is hid behind part of the window display, and there is a pause between "herbert" and Woodruff". but you can see her mouth moving.

maybe if you have too many F words it bumps the rating up??
maybe she thought it didn't look "classy" who knows.

she's the director! i guess she has the final say....

after i watched the rest of the movie, i thought that another reason why the first F word is muted out is so that later at the dinner party, when she says "I can't believe you had the nerve to show up here when everyone knows you are f_ucking my husband"

i think it gives the statement more shock value if she hasn't said a swear word in the movie yet.

This is why I very rarely watch movies on network television anymore...they either cut things because of harsh langauage or nudity (things we are not strangers too) or they cut things to fit a two and a half hour movie into a two hour time slot.

it wasn't muted out because of network television.

that's how it is in the REAL version.

i just saw it uncensored in the "on demand" section on Tv (cable) and that's how it went.

Was it really the most 'crucial', scene, though - or just the most graphic one?

It's pretty common for network TV to censor movies, due to violence, nudity, bad language, et al. If you want uncut / uncensored, you have to go with pay cable, for the most part.
