Feels like

I'm sorry, but I watched this and it felt like a Lifetime movie. I don't think it should have gotten all of the praise that it recieved. I didn't find it powerful AT ALL. I hated watching it. I fell asleep about 5 times. It felt like it belonged on WE or Lifetime and I can't stand those kinds of movies. I dunno, that's my thoughts

you're wrong. this is a great movie. Every scene advances the characters and the plot at the same time. Most movies can only do one at time. This movie is never cliched, nor has any gratuitous scenes. Truly a classic, no sh%t!!!!

Well if you fell asleep 5 times, I'm not sure you really saw the movie at all.

I've never seen anything on Lifetime that opens with people with pillow cases over their heads, getting stabbed to death, a guy pouring lighter fluid over woman. A dude suffocating to death from a plastic bag tied over his head then kicking over a picture of their kid from off a table, interrupting their murderer snorting coke who then kicks him in the head for not telling him he had a kid in the house. But if you have, then by all means... let us know.

OP is correct. this film is wayyyyy over-rated and not all that good. certain scenes are truly painful because of cliched writing and poor pacing (convenience store, traffic stop, showdown in Houston, Fantasia & Dixon's long-winded conversation before films climax).

Film had good aspirations, but was sophmoric in execution.

I kind of agree on that one.

Maybe not as bad as a Lifetime movie, but I think the people on this board are a little emotional about this one. For me, it wasn't different than any other thriller that you see on cable. But I can see where people are coming from, I think what really made this movie special was the great performances by the main characters. I thought Bill Paxton, Michael Beach and especially Billy Bob Thornton was exceptional. Everyone's raving about Bill Paxton and Michael Beach, but if you ask me Billy Bob as the redneck was acting done just right. Not exaggerated, not too mellow, he convinces you that he's really that guy. Whereas, I didn't think that the performances of the 2 LA cops and Cynda Williams were that great. The actress playing Cheryl Ann also did a really good job as Hurricane's wife. It seems like an easy role, but the way it was acted so naturally by her was a great success.
