Movies 'Nothing But Trouble' Satirizes

The ones that jump out for me are "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "The Funhouse", which I see as "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" set in traveling circus. The "bone stripper" machine reminds me of the sets in "The Funhouse".

This movie is satirizing those wrong-turn-on-the-road horror movies where the main characters quickly find themselves in the clutches of a family of deranged mass murderers. It's also poking fun at those small, revenue starved little towns with cops looking for any nit picky little reason to pull over and ticket people passing through.

It's a newly found guilty pleasure for me, as I always laugh at Aykroyd's crazy make up job. It has to be seen to be believed.

Isn't it also The Addams Family? And the moving wall is quite Labyrinth.

It's not Ackroyd's fault if some audiences are too jaded to enjoy dark humour without either wanting it fully dark or fully humourful.
