bishop sure did not look dead
did anyone else notice that when the bishop was being dragged out of the taxi he kept blinking and breathing?
sharedid anyone else notice that when the bishop was being dragged out of the taxi he kept blinking and breathing?
sharehe certainly did. i don't know if it was on purpose. i think he swallowed another pill (there were plenty on the taxi floor) and fell asleep,
shareyeah it looked like he was in some sort of coma.
shareOoooh! I didn't even notice he swallowed any pills! I just thought Beninigni's (sp?) character's incessant talking killed him. Well, I was drunk while watching the movie, but still...
shareYeah and the thing with his eyes opening after the taxi driver closed them... surely he was still alive?
"I would never let you fall."
I was expecting him to get up and walk off after the driver drove off. Basically he couldn't cope anymore with the constant vulgar chat, so pretended to be dead to get out of the taxi, and pay no fee!!!
shareAfter being seated down on the bench he also moved his head.
I can't quite figure out if he was supposed to be dead or not.

when he sat in the car supposingly dead and he blinked once, i thought he was just faking it. but apparently he was supposed to be dead. disgusting episode by the way... sheep and pumpkins lol
I love my Muse t-shirt more than my life
Don't think so. He also opened up his eyes twice after Benigni closed them.
shareWhen you move a dead body that is still warm it can behave like that.
shareI always assumed that he was passed out and the cab driver ASSUMED he was dead. He seemed more passed out, to me. That's what made it so funny to me. The fact that the guy wasn't even dead and the cab driver panicks and leaves him. Either way, it's funny, though. :-D
shareHe seemed more passed out, to me.
Well I haven't performed a formal investigation, the plane tickets to Rome didn't come through, no one reported a crime, and it has been some years ago, but like I said, either way, it was funny.
shareThe genius of that cab ride was that the phrase "talked to death". The priest died of a heart attack because the pills, probably digitalis, fell on the floor, but you did feel like the cabbie talked him to death.
Yes, I did. I noticed the blinking in particular. I wasn't sure if he was incapable of faking being dead or if Jarmusch did it on purpose as a nod and wink to the audience OR if he was supposed to not actually be dead, but be in shock or being having some other medical issue that wasn't necessarily death. lol. Either way, hilarious sequence.
