I have been wondering since I saw this movie months ago, what is that instrument that Helmut plays in the cab for his passengers?

Practically two years since I posted this question, and no answer. I guess I had better ask a cab driver in NYC.
shareIt's a recorder, a type of fipple flute. We all had to play them in elementary school (at least in Brooklyn).
shareReally? Wow. Yeah, I had to play the recorder in my music class in elementary school as well. The one from this movie looks a lot different than the one I'm familiar with.
shareMaybe that's because he's playing two of them at once, and they're smaller than a regular recorder. East German style, I guess.
