Police guarding theaters when this came out

I remember when this movie came out they had off duty cops moonlighting in the theaters. The theater owners thought that with so many black kids in the place there was bound to be a gang fight or some other trouble.

...in the entire theatre and we were ALL cheering when Ice-T was whipping Nino's ass AND when the old man shot him. It was sweet!
