Some lost trivia?
I was watching this movie today and figured I'd go over to IMDb and confirm this since I always thought this to be the case, but to my surprise I didn't find it on there. I figured I'd post this here as well for any buffs that may have saw the same thing. Or maybe I'm just out of my mind and I can be corrected. The scene in question is brief but in my opinion is pretty obvious supposed to be a parody of a scene in Robocop (1987).
Quoted from what I posted on IMDb:
The scene when Hector Savage is in the house surrounded by Police and is giving his demands to Ed Hocken appears to be a parody of a similar scene in the movie RoboCop (1987) in which a disgruntled city hall worker holds hostage his coworkers in a city building and is giving demands to a Police negotiator. In that scene, he demands a new car "And I want a bigger office! And I want a new car! And I want the city to pay for it all!", and is then offered the 6000 SUX. In police squad, Hector demands "I want a car out front! Something fun. A Porsche! Then I want a plane ticket to Jamaica. And I want a nice hotel. No touristy place. Something really indicative of the people and their culture."
