What's that song they sing during the shower scene? Or is it even real?

You must be too young to know (?). It's Barbara Streisand's "The Way We Were," from the film of the same name. The song won an Oscar.

That's cool. It's actually refreshing you haven't heard it. We probably heard it or its variations (involuntarily) hundreds of times through the 70's and 80's. Remember, that was the height of Muzak (you know, elevator music).
