Granted, this is just a movie, so things don't have to be perfectly accurate, but...
Naked Gun 1 and 33 1/3 were set in LA, as that's where Police Squad was. So, how did everyone wind up in Washington, DC, for 2 1/2? Frank's presence was explained by the White House dinner because he was celebrating his 1000th drug dealer killed. But, what about everybody else? Shouldn't that whole case have been left up to the DC police department?

I thought about as well, they even had a moment when Frank first sees Pricilla and she says she just moved out there 2 years ago. You get the impression she now lives there and Frank is just visiting because they mention Frank's "hotel room". But how would the piano player even know them to play there "song"

Jane moved there after she left Frank. Frank, Ed and Nordberg are there for Frank being honored. Not sure about Ted probably sent for to give Frank some new gadgets.
Not sure about the 'play our song' line tho. Unless it was a bigger coincidence that that guy has moved there too.
Well, the whole gang might've been over there helping out the Washington DC police so they did have jurisdiction. Also, PS is a special branch of the police so they can probably go anywhere if they wanted too.
