Ok, but not as good as the 1st and 3rd

To me I think the good Naked Gun movies are the 1st one and the last one. I dont know why but in this one it has great lines just like the other ones. But if you are looking for a movie this would be a good one to check out.

the last one is terrible

the last one was way too funny... the second was funny but not as good as one adn three

i love the last one and the commentary is suberb

Is the last one Naked Gun 33 and 1/3rd?

The first will of course always be the best, but The Smell Of Fear is a close runner up. I like it better as time has passed than I did initially. The running zoo animal gag is great. The last film really isn't that good. It lacks a cool villian (who followed in the footsteps of Ricardo Montalban and Robert Goulet again?), and doesn't keep very funny gags running as often, but rather just sprinkled thoughout. Even the opening credits were a retread and not as funny.

The third's movie does lack a memorable villain (Papp Schmere from the first comes back but he was a secondary character), and a lot more cliches were used (e.g. the gay sex prison jokes) but with no new twists. A couple old jokes were re-used (e.g. the hidden location revealed by a card or letterhead or something painfully obvious. It worked better in 2 1/2...)

2 1/2's running gag with the animals, handled deftly and made return visits at the least expected moments was a winner (one of many winning jokes).

The third did have plenty of great jokes, but it is the weakest of the three. If I had to order them, since three is by no means sub-average...

I agree with the OP. This one felt like a remake of the first film, complete with dashing but devious rival love-interest/villain, and the climax, set at a reception regarding environmentally-clean energy wasn't as spectacular or exciting as the baseball-set ending in the first film or the Academy Awards ceremony spoof of the third.

The jokes were all great and as funny as ever, and Richard Griffith was a particular high-point in the dual roles of 'Dr. Meinheimer' and best of all, 'Earl Hacker' (whose gleeful odiousness makes me think the late Griffith might have made a great choice to play the 'Penguin' in a Batman movie), but the scenario didn't feel as fresh and memorable as the first and third film, which shook up the formula a little by featuring a non-smoothie lead villain.

I love all three movies, but the first one is my favorite, followed by the third, and then the second.

The second one is my favorite, by far. I think the part where OJ is underneath the bus hitting things in the highway is hysterical. I like the other two equally, though. I think the tv show beats them all.

The third one is the best followed by the first than the second

I cannot imagine how anybody could like the third one best, but if you say so.

Yeah I enjoy the 3rd as well but it's nowhere near as good as the first. The first Naked Gun is a movie that had me almost falling in the aisle of the theater from laughing.

I thought Fred Ward was a good villain in the 3rd one, but spoofing White Heat wasn't exactly topical by 1994.

A lot of the movies' jokes stemmed from the TV show (naturally)... the TV show just didn't have the budget to do as many jokes as they wanted, and for the jokes they did do on TV a bigger budget would have made them perfect (a la what the movies were allowed to do...)

This installment was a knockdown, drag out, rolling all over the floor successful sequel.

2 1/2 is my personal favourite, probably because I've saw it more times when I was younger, but I believe it's the equal of the first one. I watched 33 1/3 last night and although isn't it clearly as good as the first two, it was better than I remembered it being. It's easily better than the stuff Leslie Nielsen did afterwards like Spy Hard.

I saw 2½ like 1234 times when I was a kid, I had seen the first one only couple of times when my friend borrowed his vhs. So I watched it many times, and I started to prefer it to the first one. 2½ was actually my favorite movie of all time, and the first one replaced it.

But now I watched 1 and 2½ again.. I have to admit the second is better. It's just funnier. I still love the first one (the concrete dildo scene is classic). 33 1/3 isn't so good.

I actually prefer this one over the 3rd film.

"That was a courtesy flush. I'm not actually done yet"

The 2nd one is the best but the first is a close equal the third is not even close to being better then the first two. The third installment seemed to be plaiged with problems. Where they had trouble working out the ending, George Kennedy was unwell and they had to work around scenes because of his illness. The Ed and Norberg characters were underdeveloped and irrelevant. In the commentary of the third movie there is kind of concession that the third one is not up to scratch stating "by the time they made the third movie all the ideas had been exhausted".

reply

They're all good but 1st is best. 3rd and 2nd are both good (2nd being slightly better than 3rd). They're all hilarious and i would watch them over any other spoof.

Just rewatched the entire DVD trilogy (this time with my kids of 11 & 7...I know, I know...some jokes were WAY "adult")...I gotta say, LOVE the first, and the third cracked me up all over again, the 2nd one had a HILARIOUS intro with George & Barbara Bush, but the rest of the movie lacked the constant barrage of jokes the 1st & 3rd had...I dunno. I'm with most here that the my order is 1, followed closely by 33 1/3 with 2 1/2 tailing behind.
