Rated R

If it were to be rated today would this movie be rated R?

No, it would still be PG-13.

Johnny Carson 1925-2005. We will never forget you.

reply

I think that this one would still be the same, but the first one might have been a bit higher. That joke about him shooting five Shakespeare actors may have gone over the line. [I've heard that it was a reference to something that actually happened at the time, which is a bit insensitive]

reply

No, have you looked at zucker's Scary movies 3& 4. If those were rated PG-13 The NAked gun movies would certainly still be rated PG-13. Their really not that inopropriate.

When in doubt kill it.

reply

I always thought it was a spoof of Dirty Harry, where the commissioner chides him for killing someone, and Harry says it was justified, because the man was obviously ready to rape a woman. In The Naked Gun, that was turned on the side by saying they were actors. Maybe I was wrong.

I have no taste, but that just means there's less of a chance that I'll get eaten

reply

The third Naked Gun was given a PG-13/12 rating, so why not the first two Naked Gun instalments? I think some TV shows in the UK have silly age classification ratings (Lost and Shark rated 15? Laughable).

reply

Scary Movie 3 and 4 were also rated 15, but PG-13 in America.

reply

They were both rated 12 on cinema, but there was no 12 certificate for video back then, so all 12’s got bumped up to 15.

What would make it R? There's no nudity, unlimited number of F-Bombs, or graphic sex scenes.

IMDB's like school. Both have all different types of crowds.

reply

It would still be PG-13 if you ask me.

No, I think the rating was right. Of course, the whole MPAA ratings system has to be fixed up, but they won't fix it due to the fact that they would have to lose ticket sales by turning away people at the box office. Simpson would confess to murdering his wife before that ever happens!

reply

Don't see why not five year-olds should be denied watching this movie. R? Laughable.

reply

If the Austin Powers films are PG-13 then the Naked Gun films should definitely be rated PG-13.

some kids might like it, especially the first one, just tell them the condoms are just costumes and they won't know its a bit rude

reply

It would still be rated PG-13. The movie has only one f-bomb, as far as I noticed – spoken by Zsa Zsa Gabor, or at least someone imitating her voice, and it's not a sexual reference.

reply

I don't see why it would be rated R even by today's standards. The sex jokes in the movie were much more subtle than in today's comedy's and sitcoms.

reply

I think it might be an R today because, lets be honest, the statue gobbling scene in the first one is a bit much for PG 13. I think here in England the 15 certificate was right. The second one is fine at PG 13/12.

reply

Well this one has the pneumatic wobbling dick device which may well one-up the much loved concrete dildo from the first film.
