Yeah, Winnacunnet!

Well, I'm a Winnacunnet High School student right now. Specifically, I am focusing on media for what I am going to study in college. So, I just have to say, thank GOD Pam Smart isn't here anymore. This was the biggest thing to ever hit our town (Hampton, NH), so I have been spending a lot of time studying her story. I just hope this movie is worth watching.

LOL...I grew up in Seabrook. Cecelia Pierce is my cousin...distaint cousin. S**t...back then everyone were cousins. I do remember one thing about her. on the 4th of July there would be a big family reunion party and we would go to this little train bridge and shoot bottle rockets at cars passing below. Hell, I knew Pete Randall, Raymond Fowler and J.R. lol..in the 80's Seabrook was one big *beep* family. Havn't been there in years though.

The reason they put the power plant in Seabrook, was because if it had a meltdown it would only kill one family

I do remember when he was murdered and she and the teenage guys were charged with it (in 1990), I heard it on the news. I then heard occasional things on shows about it into 1991, and I did watch this MTV movie on it in September, 1991, the night it first aired on CBS. I've only been to New Hampshire once, during our Conneticut to Maine drive in late June, 1979, we drove through it on the way up, then back through on the way back. But I lived in York County, SC from June, 1969 until January, 1997, just south of Charlotte, NC, and if you go on the filming locations of this movie it will say Charlotte, NC and Charlotte, SC. That should say York County, SC!!! The part that was filmed in York County was the courtroom scenes during her trial, as well as the exterior shots of the courthouse. It is a big, yellow courthouse in downtown York, SC, and says YORK COUNTY COURTHOUSE on the front of it. When I saw this movie I clearly saw that, and that the YORK was purposely put out of the shot. We lived in Hickory Grove, SC, a small town about 12 miles west of York, and one day in the summer of 1991 my mother and I went into York to the grocery store and passed the courthouse, and I noticed it had film crews/equiptment around it. I asked what that was about, and she said they were filming a movie about this crime there. She asked if I knew about that teacher in New Hampshire who had hired her students to kill her husband. Apparently she did not remember the name Pam Smart, but I immidiently knew what she was talking about, though I did not know a movie on it was even being made, much less filmed right around here, until I saw that at the courthouse. After ten months in Myrtle Beach (January-November, 1997), I moved back up here to Charlotte, where I have been ever since, and I know Charlotte and York County as well as anyone. I'd never heard of Winnacunnet or Hampton, NH, but I do recall her being a high school librarian (my sister was from 1994-1998 at Ware Shoals High School in Greenwood, SC, then became a middle school librarian in Charlotte, which she still is). And she and my mother (and grandmother) moved to a house in York in January, 1997, where she still lives, and it is only about a mile from this courthouse. But I am sure this was huge in your hometown, as it got alot of coverage nationally as well, and even inspired this movie. And yes, this movie is definitely worth watching, as it is dramatic, tense, touching, and gives a very good account of the real life story from all perspectives.

This was filmed at my high school. I wasn't a student there at the time, but we watched a clip of this movie in a class once so they could show us how it was filmed at my school. Sorry...just going off of what hereminton said about living where it was filmed.

I'm sure you are right laleach2, and alot more of the movie was set in her and their high school, than at the courthouse. So your future high school did have alot more filmed at it than my former county courthouse did. I moved to Miami/Dade County, FL on December 16, and don't know if I'll return to Charlotte briefly this fall/winter or not. But since this was filmed in 1991 you must have attended high school after 1991 (when did you, I did from 1982-1986 at York's high school, just about 5 miles from this courthouse?).
