She is indeed brilliant in this film. I love how she manages to bring out the comedy without losing any of the desperation the role requires. And she makes you understand how strong women can remain in abusive relationships.

okay, i'm going to get my ....s handed to me, but i think that Joyce enjoyed the relationship. they were both combustible and i bet it led to great sex for them.

i get this from the scene in the van, that day she tried to kill jimmy and that night he unexpectedly shows up in the van and you see the "happy" chemistry between Jimmy and Joyce, as well as her angry side (playing chicken with van with people in it.)

That is great, for sure. There's a lot of comic relief in this. Jimmy's mother is pretty hilarious unintentionally and that scene in the funeral parlor bathroom is funny.

I re-watched this movie today and that line sent a chill right through me. I had seen this movie as a kid but I completely forgot about what eventually happens to Demi's on-screen husband.

Headly is great in this movie. She comes off as kind of daffy at first, but that makes it all the more creepy when she goes off the deep end.
