Wonder who decides who gets to live rent free?

Sure, it sounds like a noble gesture to build homes for all these poor people and let them live there rent free. But haven't we learned that this doesn't really work?

You just end up building nice places for these people to destroy cause in many cases they (like Sailor) don't know how to live in nice places or are crazy and need to be institutionalized.

And who keeps them up? I mean who makes sure nobody does damage them or fixes them when they need repairs? And what if they set up meth labs in them or turn them into crack houses or whore houses? Do you toss them out on the streets again?

Seems like it wouldn't be long before you end up with alot of homeless people all over again.

Not to menion all the millions of people who would flock to L.A. cause they are "down on their luck" and want some dumb rich white guy to pay their way.

Who says violence is not the answer?

When the communists took power in Romania, they decided to eradicate homelessness and unemployment. So, they gathered all the bums, beggars, gypsies and homeless people, they gave them houses, apartments and jobs. However things didn't quite work according to plan...
The bums refused to go to work, they dismantled the houses, they sold the construction materials, the windows, doors, everything and then ran away...

There are many articles and discussions about this online, but most of them are in Romanian. This one explains how the nomadic gypsies from Bistrita received free houses after WWII.
http://gazetadecluj.ro/cum-au-ajuns-tiganii-locuitori-ultracentrali-ai-municipiului-bistrita-2/
Summary of the article:
The town of Bistrita had a pretty large ethnic German minority - the so called "Transylvanian Saxons". Because they were considered Nazi sympathisers , many of them were arrested and sent to labor camps at the end of WWII. To prevent their return after finishing their sentences, the communists deliberately moved in their houses the nomadic gypsies who lived in tents near the town, transforming quickly the whole downtown into a ghetto. The gypsies moved their horses inside the houses, they dismantled some of them, sold the furniture, plumbing and other fixtures...The attempts of the communists to integrate the gypsies into the Romanian society were an embarrassing failure...
