Goddard Bolt had NO other friends?

For someone who was supposed to be the richest man in the world it's strange Goddard couldn't have gone to one of his other friends and explained his situation and gotten himself cleaned up FIRST before going after Crasswell.

And he was really dumb for a crafty businessman not to suspect a double cross was in the works.

Aso, if he was that famous wouldn't his going missing have been in all the papers and on tv and the radio, etc.? Even a homeless person would pass a newspaper stand once in a while and Goddard would have seen the front page news about himself and realized he was being conned.

But then it would have been a different movie wouldn't it?

Remember, Bolt was like a Scrooge. He only cared about his money and wealth. He might not have been well liked by others, even other Trumps. As to the double cross, he didn't think his lawyers would do that. Remember how he says, "You've been with me for 10 years." He might've thought that they were loyal to him all this time and that he could trust them. Guess he was wrong.
As to the newspapers, I don't think there were that many newspaper stands in that area.

You're a little naive. One of the richest men in the world can't just go missing and no one notices. He was in charge of presumably many multi-billion dollar corporations. Who took take of all of that business in his absence? He wasn't even concerned while on the street of his business (not talking about his finance). You're attempting to rationalize away all of the many major and obvious plot holes. This movie requires an inordinate level of suspension of disbelief. It was satirical and that's it. That said, I did like the movie, but no way was it grounded in anything resembling reality.

He gave the Lawyers Power Of Attorney, so they ran the business. This is also how they had the power to sell all his assets.

Also, all he'd have to do is say "I'm off to Vacation for a Month" and no one woudl uestion it. A nice, privae retreat in the Meddeteranian, a seaside VIlla in France, a nice trip to SOuth American Rain Forrests to clear his head, a wealthy man can do all that and sty a month away.
