shareI didn't catch that until I'd been watching the movie for a couple of years; it's priceless. And could Patrick Stewart have been any funnier?
Maitre'D: "The usual table, sir?"
Chevy Chase: "Actually I'd like a GOOD table this time."
Maitre'D: "Impossible."
Chevy Chase: "Part of the new cruelty?"

So, be honest, what flavor floss would YOU like after your meal?
shareL'Idiot (pronounced Lee-Dee-O) is French for 'The Idiot'. The abbreviation is there because in French you cannot have le or la immediately before idiot (cannot have two vowels adjacent).
In the movie, the way it is pronounced makes it sound quite classy and exotic - which is part of the joke because when you translate it, it means 'The Idiot'.
Great movie!! I recently bought it on DVD and really enjoy it each time I read it. Quite an underrated film as I think most people don't quite grasp the majesty, magic, and mood of the film which ensures its constant prized place in my favourites :0)
I agree. One of my all time favorite experinces is this movie. Majesty, magic and mood is a GREAT way to put it
shareI haven't seen the film in a while, and I don't know if this is in another thread or not, but the hotel they stay in later in the movie means "Chicken of the Sea." I think it's "Pollo Del Mar" or something similar.
