Best Steve Martin's movie
I thinks its in a way Steve Martin story...
sharei didnt watch them all,
but
yeah its fantastic
This movie is mass entertainment and not high culture, I know, but so was Shakepeare in his own time. L: A: Story is a great comedy, and it's also poetic and it can say the unspeakable in poetic ways (which some commenters mistook as Hollywood kitch).
This is not just a Steve Martin classic, it is a piece that must be remembered in later ages. Of course I'm only brave enough to say it anonymously.
L: A. Story took me to the lost Eden, but I cried a lot, for I had previously seen Shopgirl, and it's a tragedy that even those artists who can create an Eden are forbidden to return there. We all are.

i know. i think he originally wrote this, seems to be why it was so dang funny. i do agree he should do more comedies like this one.
shareThe best movie that he's ever been in has to be either Cheaper by the Dozen or Cheaper by the Dozen 2. No question. All of his other movies are stupid.

I loved Parenthood and next to LA Story, is my favorite Steve Martin film.
Also love the Three Amigos!!
I like all the movies mentioned...but has anyone ever seen Leap of Faith? Steve Martin was so entertaining as the conning...smoke-N-mirrors...traveling preacher.
Also stars Debra Winger, Liam Neeson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Lukas Haas and MeatLoaf. Not really a comedy...more like a slice of life story.
Housesitter hasn't been mentioned either... co-starring Goldie Hawn...I Like It... :)
My pick for Steve Martin's best movie is "All of Me"
share"Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid" a great idea executed wonderfully.
shareDead Men Don't Wear Plaid is his best work in my judgement. So well done and so very, very funny. LA Story is marvellous though and you can see how much of himself he put into it. Rather like a poem to his then-beloved Victoria Tennant. I adored his early work but I'm not convinced he made a truly good film after LA Story.
Mmm... sacrilicious...
LA story is in his top three but it is not his best. But it goes 1. The Jerk, because it has that smart/ stupid, slap stick humor that everyone tries for but has trouble recreating. 2. The Three Amigos, for the same reason, plus it has a comedy all star cast (though their quality has gone down in recent years). And Then LA Story (I think that it would rise on my list if I lived in LA)
shareThe Jerk
Man with two brains
All of me
Dirty rotten scoundrels
Roxanne
That's my top5
It's definately my favourite Steve Martin movie but he HAS made better ones like Trains Planes and Automobiles and Man With Two Brains.
