this movie sucked me in with humor and by the time the humor subsided, i was stuck with this cheesy romantic 'comedy'
i really wish the whole movie was like the first 10 minutes....especially the freeway scene.
I didn't really like the freeway scene. I think the rest of the film is awesome though.
shareGreat point! I feel that way about most American films, especially those movies from the 80's and 90's.
The 1st acts are always about the characters, like a stimulating conversation, then about that 20 or 30 minute mark: hello hyperbolic drama courtesy of the Plot Ghost! Tiresome.
While I love the first 1/3 of this movie for all of its jokes, it's extremely fast-paced and gets almost fatiguing to watch since there are no breaks in the action and constant camera pans. Also it pretty much exhausted all of the "LA" jokes and stereotypes, as far as I can think.
shareYeah I remember now why I rated it 7 out of 10. It was mostly for the back half of the film, which was funny and clever but also really charming. The first half felt more like a John Candy slapstick comedy that was trying too hard and then switched gears later after the spastic editing subsided.
