It's a shame he hated this film so much. I'm a huge fan of Richard E. Grant, and love this film.
He must've had faith in it at the time to agree to do it, but possibly ended up disliking it because of being embarrassed to be associated with it.
If that's the case, it's a real shame, as I would hope he'd be capable of having an uninfluenced point of view.
I could of course be totally wrong, and it really could WELL have been a bi_tch to work on, as he reported in his book 'With Nails'.
If it DOES ever receive the cult status it deserves, then it will be interesting to see if he changes his mind
