Ramirez's return and MacLeod being "the one" are no less inexplicable. While the Zeist stuff is actually explained, them saying knowledge returns at the Gathering still contradicts the original. The explanation is the same stuff I dreamed up as a kid, and I'm sure most others did to rationalize this mess. If you want to accept it's fairy tale logic you have to ask: why a past life as an alien? And why return there or choose to die on earth? Why not be reborn as a different life form or as an alien in another time and/or place/planet?
I'm not English, but rubbish is what comes to mind.
