Does this documentary and the movie "Apocalypse now" features music of Wagner. What makes me think this is that on Amazon.com I have seen a Wagner CD with cover as the picture of the helicopters on this film poster.
I've not seen both of them but still I am curious...
Mrs. Lowry: You must have hopes, wishes, dreams. Sam: No, nothing. Not even dreams!
The scene is the 1st Air Cav's attack on the Viet Cong village, to the tones of Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries - it's the most powerful movie scene ever filmed in the history of Cinema. If you don't think so, there are only two possible reasons: 1: you haven't seen it in a theatre, or 2: you have no taste whatsoever and should stick to Mickey Mouse ;-)
The choice of Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" is for the helicopter attack sequence is interesting. In Norse mythology the Valkyries were the hand-maidens of Odin, who flew over the battle on flying horses, deciding who was to live and who was to die. The helicopters in "Apocalypse Now" are part of a cavalry unit who have traded in their horses for helicopters - and they fly over the battlefield deciding who to kill.
