Since King Ghidorah was created by nuclear testing in this movie, shouldn't there have been mention of the monster actually needing to feed off of nuclear power plants, same like Godzilla, while destroying Japan?

It would be interesting to see King Ghidorah feeding on some nuclear energy. We do see Godzilla doing it in "The Return of Godzilla," and we see Godzilla heading for a nuclear power plant in "Godzilla vs. Biollante." But, the film-makers didn't write that in, so no biggie.
