Mary Louise Parker is so beautiful in this movie.

I personally think each woman in the ensemble is absolutely gorgeous, but Mary Louise Parker is effortlessly stunning in this role. I revisited the movie for the first time in years, and had forgotten what a delicate beauty she is. So perfectly cast. I can definitely buy in to the fact that several people were under her spell. The scene where she's behind the counter and Idgie gives Smokey some alcohol is her at her most striking. She is kind of a Bambi/Melanie Lynskey/Abbie Cornish hybrid.

"It's not like I'm some modern punk, dickhead. It's an obvious, 1977 original punk rock look."

I agree. Her looks are so natural and feminine in FGT. The clothes that she wears really add to the effect. Every time I watch it, I always find myself wishing that I could look like her. Her character is a true lady.

I also agree and think Mary Louise Parker is one of the finest actresses ever. She is so under-rated and we have to see countless starlets getting publicity when she has true beauty, mysticism and talent. Her character in FGT is so delicate but so strong and she does a fabulous job showing both sides. If you haven't seen her in A Place For Annie then you are missing her best performance as an AIDS patient.

She looks very different now. Cosmetic surgery. It's hard to figure out what she had done. But I'm guessing a chin augmentation (her chin is somewhat receded in this movie), and cheek implants or injections (she has no noticeable upper cheeks in the movie, but she does now...apple cheeks). So it has changed the shape of her face and made her look like a sister of Mary Louise Parker. She's technically prettier now, I think, but she has lost some of that uniqueness of appearance that she once had. Sophia Loren said a director told her once, about her nose, that someone else had suggested she have it fixed, the new director told her not to, that the defect in the face is very important.

However she looks, though, she's an excellent actress. Mary Masterson was brilliant, as was Kathy Bates and the older actress....shoots, I forget her name (this happens as you get older!)
