I always feel sad for Ruth....

Good woman, caring, kind person and what is her reward? She marries a man who beats her, and then dies young of cancer... I know life is not fair, but still very sad.

But in between she had a good life with Idgie and the Threadgoods, she found her family, that has to count for something.

reply

it does count for something, novastar. I see your point...

Was just about to watch this movie for the first time. You should put "Spoilers" in your thread title the next time you start a discussion about a character in a movie who dies.

I think that saying that she feels sad about a character is enough of a spoiler clue as it is. I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, but maybe you should watch the movie before you read the message boards about it. It is understood that there will be spoilers.

Its really not hard to put *spoilers* or *possible spoilers* in the title or heading. I understand it has become common practice in society to act like an inconsiderate lazy douche, but that does not make it proper, only common.

While it is easier to pin the responsibility on the minority of empathetic people who actually think responsibly, its not only hypocritical, its phvking pathetic and sad.

EDIT: I want to be clear, I'm not insulting you or the OP. I am insulting societal norms.

reply

It amazes me people still complain about 'spoilers' when they go to the message boards BEFORE watching the movie/tv show. Come on people give me a break! What do you expect? Why would you go into the boards... let alone any threads before you have seen it?

reply

Why not?

reply

To see if someone said it is a good movie..

reply

I don't think one will find that info in a topic titled "I always feel sad for Ruth.." Spoilers are optional and if someone does feel the urge to come inside a discussion forum before watching for whatever reasons, he/she should do so at their own risk. Titles can sometimes give away spoilers but at least avoid coming inside obvious spoiler topics like this one.

reply

ehh, why reply to me?

reply

While I understand people want to know if a movie is good or not on the message boards, I do have to agree that it is generally understood that there will be spoilers. And that's even before the Op puts spoiler tags in the title.

If you want to know if a movie is good before watching, read a review if the movie first. Usually they are more apt to put spoiler tags before Assn actual spoiler.

It's sad that you need people's opinion on whether a movie is good or not.

Watch the movie and determine that for yourself.

Some of my FAVORITE movies and books and games and shows were hated by people or unknown or people simply didn't review them great, but, my life wouldn't be complete without them.

Getting angry in a message board is ridiculous. We watched the movie/read the book and thus have a right to talk in the boards and discuss them- that's what the boards are here for.

The same thing happened to my Uncle. He was a very kind, caring person. He went through a lot in his life, and he died of cancer last year. He was only 52 years old. I still miss him very much. We were very close. It seems like its the good people who die young.

I feel sad for Ruth when I watch the film too.
