So,is the honey tree scene just a metaphor?
I get the fact that there are hints that the relationship between Idgie and Ruth was more than just platonic. But after reading another post about it, there was a reference to the honey harvesting scene. So when Idgie probed the hole in the tree, and pulled out the sweet sticky honey, is that supposed to be a metaphor for something else? And while we are on the subject, was the whale Mobey Dick really just a phallic symbol?
