Why were they freaked out that it snowed in January?

You have a wedding in the snowiest month of the year and are in shock that it snowed? It would be more realistic if it were April or October. Or some other kind of weather debacle.

Did you miss the part about it being Los Angeles?

The quite interesting textual alternative.

No. I've heard it snows in Florida from time to time. January is January. Plus it wasn't like it was a blizzard or something.

I live in southern CA, and it hasn't snowed where i lived in over 30 years. I live only an hour away from LA.

That must suck. Snow is fun. Ice on the other hand...

lol! On the contrary. Not everyone likes snow, so no, it doesn't suck. Some people live here because of the climate and because they don't have to deal with snow and all the hassle that comes with it.

IN the words of my favorite stand-up comedian, the late Bill Hicks, about people from Southern California and the weather: "What are you a *cking lizard?"
Why would you not want to live somewhere with actual weather? I like rosy cheeked women and cappuccinos...etc. The bit goes on but you get the idea.

Even worse is that it was narrated that it hadn't snowed in decades but kids are seen pulling sleds. Why would kids own sleds somewhere where it hasn't snowed in even their parents lifetimes?

SoCal has undeniably the best weather in the US. Blue skies and 45-80 degrees year round. There have been years w/o even a drop of rain. Thunderstorms are events here.

The hottest it gets here is 90 but is dry heat, not humid. Winters, the lowest I recall is 30 degrees in the middle of then night.

Like I said, on most days there is not even a cloud you can see in the sky.

I used to live in the Midwest, and weather conditions are quite a hassle.

Aren't there droughts if it goes so long without rain? Or is the area just prepared for there to hardly ever be rain?

Maybe they have sleds for when they do go to the snow, perhaps? I have sleds as well.

It doesn't snow in Los Angeles or any of the surrounding suburbs because they are all in a valley very close to sea level. However, in the mountain ranges surrounding the valley, many about a half hour drive from town, it snows every winter. I live in Los Angeles, and it hasn't snowed in the main parts of town in my lifetime (32 years old). However, I have gone to Mt. Baldy, Lake Arrowhead, among others many times to go to the snow. Lots of kids in town have sleds because they go on day or weekend trips to the snow during the winter.

The main reason it's a big deal in the movie is that it never snows down in town.

Exactly. I go to Big Bear every winter because of the slopes. However, if it snowed in downtown LA, there would be some serious problems .
