No Father-Daughter dance?

She's his only daughter, and the apple of his eye, and supposedly she adores him, and there's no father-daughter dance at the wedding he mortgaged his home to pay for? I'm a proud daddy's girl, and my dad is no longer living, and one of my most cherished memories is my dance with him at my wedding. I just don't get it. I mean, I know it's a plot device to have him not be able to get to her at the wedding, but I would never have gone through my wedding reception without dancing with my daddy.

Like everything else he misses it. I'm pretty sure when they play "My Girl" and Annie and Nina are looking around for him, that was supposed to be the father-daughter dance. They show George outside with the cars and he hears the music and gets a pained expression on his face and looks so disappointed. It's like he knows he missed the one special moment of the day that he was supposed to have with Annie. I just watched this movie again and never caught that before.

I always thought that it was ridiculous that it was so hard for him to even get to his daughter once she was married because of the crowds, etc. For her to take off for the honeymoon like that after barely acknowledging him....quite inconsiderate.

I like this movie overall, but I've always thought the way it treats Martin's character at the wedding is unnecessarily cruel. Would it have really hurt them to cut the hi-jinks for like 5 minutes and allow him to enjoy himself at his daughter's wedding?

What bothered me is that Franck was supposed to be this detailed wedding planner, yet he skipped that important part. Also, wedding planners are supposed to take care of details, likethe parking, so the family doesnt worry
