Couldn't she have at least had the sense to call her son and inform him that her boyfriend, whom he's never met, was coming down to pick him up? The kid was a snot beyond belief, but I'd say it's understandable he was freaked out being practically alone at school with just about everybody else already gone for the holiday, walking into his dorm room to find a strange man looking at his stuff. If I was in that situation and, with no forewarning, a stranger just showed up at my school, went into my room uninvited and said "I'm here to take you home for Thanksgiving", I wouldn't be receptive to going with him either. Dutch may have had to tie Doyle up and drag him regardless, but some heads up might've at least saved the poor guy from getting hit with a golf club and kicked in the nuts.
