Room 287?

In the Weronika section, her boyfriend checks into some hotel with the room number 287. Veronique, at the end, checks into the same room number where she finds out she has a doppelgänger. Is there any reason why the room numbers were the same?

Thematically, I suppose it makes sense to me only in the following way: Veronique benefits from the mistakes Weronika has made, providing her with some magic realismesque hindsight. In the scene involving Room 287 in Poland, she does not commit to her relationship with her boyfriend, as opposed to Veronique, who in that same room number begins her relationship with the author. This of course indicates that Weronika had made a mistake, and Veronique is making the right decision...?

Is there some other, obvious way of interpreting this? Thanks
